ACVC 2015 Official Launch
Our official launch was held on Thursday 26th March at the Mercure Inn. Competition Director, Carol Dall’Osto revealed plans for the 2015 year.
Key points from Carol were:
- Renewal of 3 year TCC Partnership Grant and move to Townsville Civic Theatre for next 3 years
- Open Vocal Section now to have a Preliminary Stage and a separate Finals Concert
- Two new adjudicators of international standing – Carl Pini (Instrumental) and Cheryl Barker (Vocal)
- Return official accompanists, Rhodri Clarke (Melbourne) and Maryleigh Hand (Sydney), and newcomer Ms Prue Gibbs from Brisbane
- Continuing support from sponsors, including a new sponsor for the new Open Vocal Section – NQ Employment
- Continuing support for local school age musicians and significant addition to the prizes available
- special encouragement awards for locals as well as Most Outstanding Musician from North Queensland
- Mention of Local North Queensland musicians and singers who have gone on to make worthwhile careers in music
